Yarraman is a rural town in the Toowoomba region that is located at the junction of the D’Aguilar and New England Highway. It’s fringed by hoop pine 🌲plantation forests, lots of bunya pines and lovely looking grazing country🐮.
👉Our first stop to our destination was Goomeri. It’s known for its old-world charm and I can tell you it did not disappoint. A small town which is famous for its Pumpkin Festival. Like many towns it has a very busy bakery 🍞🥖and being Saturday, it was filled to the brim with many travellers and locals. You can see this town takes a lot of pride in its appearance. Blooming flowers 🌺🌸 everywhere. If you are interested in staying a night or two then check out the Goomeri Showgrounds. 👍
👉Next was a stop for lunch in Nanango. It’s the fourth oldest town in Queensland and of course has a lot of history associated with it. The murals in town depict a past rich in timber, farming and mining. Unfortunately, the Visitor Information Centre was closed and we think we know why. We could hear music and singing 👩🎤👨🎤coming from a distance and I said to Graeme that I thought it was coming from the showgrounds. After a walk and lunch, we decided to find the showgrounds where we had thought of staying. Wow it was full to the brim with caravanners and other travellers. I soon realised why. It was the weekend of the Nanango Muster🐃🤠👢. Maybe the staff from the Visitors Information Centre were enjoying the festivities and why not. Obviously very, very popular as you will see from the photos. Even the RV park said ‘no vacancy’.
👉After all the hustle and bustle in Nanango it was refreshing to finally come to the peace and quiet of Yarraman Caravan Park. This older style, but well cared for park, is settled in the South Burnett region and a great place to stay and explore the Bunya National Park and surrounding areas. The view over the valleys is quite spectacular and we loved the occasional mooing from a few cows on the neighbouring property.
On arrival you will meet the very bubbly Tania 😄 who welcomes you with a smile and lots of information of the area. 👍
