Wyndham is the most northerly town in WA approximately 3216km north east of Perth. You will love it here if you are a warm-weather lover as average annual maximum temperatures are 35.6C and minimums are a balmy 23.2C.
Driving along the Great Northern Highway towards Wyndham you pass by many breathtaking sandstone escarpments and expansive mud flats. Apparently the mangrove swamps and tidal mud flats surrounding this Kimberley town are also Crocodile heaven. This is proudly shown at the entrance of the town where you cannot miss the Big Croc statue.๐๐
We stayed at the Wyndham Caravan Park which in itself is quite unique. Sharon the Manageress is very helpful and will happily show you around to make sure you choose a site that suits you. The park itself has probably seen better days but we loved the funky cafรฉ and camp kitchen. Most importantly the amenities are clean, and it has everything you need๐
๐Powered sites $38 per night for 2A
๐Two amenity blocks โ clean and I loved the homely touch of a plant and hand cleansers on each and every basin.๐ป
๐Dump point๐ฝ
๐Laundry๐
๐Free WiFiย ๐ถ
๐Funky outdoor camp kitchen with BBQ๐ฝ
๐Cafe where you can enjoy a smoothie or a coffee and even purchase bread and milkย โ๏ธ๐๐ฅ
๐Pets by appointmentย ๐
๐Swimming pool๐โโ๏ธ
๐Excellent TV/Telstra reception๐ฑ๐บ
๐The park also hosts the biggest Boab in captivity with a 25m circumference๐ณ
๐For the bird lover itโs the place to see the very rare Gouldian Finch, and several other tropical Savanna Finch species๐ฆ๐ฆ
Other things to see and do in and around Wyndham:
๐Watch the sunset from the Bastion Five Rivers Lookout โ the highest point of the Bastion Rangeย ๐๐
๐Take a drive to the Port of Wyndham and if you are lucky you may see a croc or two. We didnโt see any though.๐
๐ย Historical Museum โ gives a great insight into the early days of Wyndham๐
๐Check out the Warriu Dreamtime Statues โ Giant bronze figures depicting an Aboriginal family and native animalsย ๐
๐Donโt leave town without dropping into the Croc Cafรฉ and Bakery. If youโre up to it why not try a Croc Pie. But donโt worry if they are sold out there are many other delicious pies, pastries, cakes, bread and more on offer. Loved our pies, sooooo delicious.๐ฅง๐ฐ๐ฅฎ๐๐ฅฏ
