WYNDHAM – WA

Wyndham is the most northerly town in WA approximately 3216km north east of Perth. You will love it here if you are a warm-weather lover as average annual maximum temperatures are 35.6C and minimums are a balmy 23.2C.

Driving along the Great Northern Highway towards Wyndham you pass by many breathtaking sandstone escarpments and expansive mud flats. Apparently the mangrove swamps and tidal mud flats surrounding this Kimberley town are also Crocodile heaven. This is proudly shown at the entrance of the town where you cannot miss the Big Croc statue.๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŠ

We stayed at the Wyndham Caravan Park which in itself is quite unique. Sharon the Manageress is very helpful and will happily show you around to make sure you choose a site that suits you. The park itself has probably seen better days but we loved the funky cafรฉ and camp kitchen. Most importantly the amenities are clean, and it has everything you need๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ‘‰Powered sites $38 per night for 2A
๐Ÿ‘‰Two amenity blocks โ€“ clean and I loved the homely touch of a plant and hand cleansers on each and every basin.๐Ÿšป
๐Ÿ‘‰Dump point๐Ÿšฝ
๐Ÿ‘‰Laundry๐Ÿ‘•
๐Ÿ‘‰Free WiFiย ๐Ÿ“ถ
๐Ÿ‘‰Funky outdoor camp kitchen with BBQ๐Ÿฝ
๐Ÿ‘‰Cafe where you can enjoy a smoothie or a coffee and even purchase bread and milkย โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฅ›
๐Ÿ‘‰Pets by appointmentย ๐Ÿ™‰
๐Ÿ‘‰Swimming pool๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ
๐Ÿ‘‰Excellent TV/Telstra reception๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ“บ
๐Ÿ‘‰The park also hosts the biggest Boab in captivity with a 25m circumference๐ŸŒณ
๐Ÿ‘‰For the bird lover itโ€™s the place to see the very rare Gouldian Finch, and several other tropical Savanna Finch species๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿฆ

Other things to see and do in and around Wyndham:

๐Ÿ‘‰Watch the sunset from the Bastion Five Rivers Lookout โ€“ the highest point of the Bastion Rangeย ๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒ…
๐Ÿ‘‰Take a drive to the Port of Wyndham and if you are lucky you may see a croc or two. We didnโ€™t see any though.๐ŸŠ
๐Ÿ‘‰ย Historical Museum โ€“ gives a great insight into the early days of Wyndham๐Ÿš
๐Ÿ‘‰Check out the Warriu Dreamtime Statues โ€“ Giant bronze figures depicting an Aboriginal family and native animalsย ๐Ÿ‘Œ
๐Ÿ‘‰Donโ€™t leave town without dropping into the Croc Cafรฉ and Bakery. If youโ€™re up to it why not try a Croc Pie. But donโ€™t worry if they are sold out there are many other delicious pies, pastries, cakes, bread and more on offer. Loved our pies, sooooo delicious.๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฅฏ
