WILCANNIA - NSW < Aussie Caravanning Lifestyle

The town of Wilcannia is located along the Darling River and is in the Central Darling Shire of North Western, NSW. With the current drought it’s hard to believe that once it was said to be the third largest inland port in the country during the great river boat era in the mid-19th century. The town is very small but has some lovely heritage stone buildings 🕍🏚🏠 which were built during the 1800’s.

👉We stayed at the Warrawong on the Darling caravan park located on the bank of the Darling River. What a gem 💎 of a place – a little green oasis.

There’s a dam in the billabong below the park’s camp kitchen and there’s a good walk 🚶‍♀️along the river bank where bird watchers can find a variety of local birds. Graeme was in his element as he could throw the Yabbie traps in the dam. Unfortunately only one of the resident Yabbies wanted to hop into the nets but it was returned to the water for another day.🤷‍♂️

Each evening the wonderful Managers provide cheese🧀 and bickies for travellers at the camp kitchen for ‘Happy Hour’ 🥂and it was enjoyable speaking with other travellers. What I really enjoyed was watching the Kangaroos 🦘🦘🦘who came to the dam and enjoyed their own ‘Happy Hour’ so nice to see they enjoyed their cool drink too.👇

👉Amenities – wow so clean and again a shower with your own vanity basin – I know you probably think, so what. But when you have been travelling as long as we have and come across places like this they are so worth the mention.🚻🚿
