Tin Can Bay (TCB) is a little coastal village situated on the Cooloola Coast a few hours north of Brisbane. Yep we are heading a little further north each week. So when we hit Gympie we turned right taking Tin Can Bay Road and headed the 50 kms towards the ocean. After leaving the very busy Bruce Highway it was refreshing driving through the many Pine Plantations.
They say TCB is a great place to relax and unwind. Apart from the morning traffic we encountered getting here I think we are pretty chilled. Not sure how much more unwinding I can do. But in all honesty, we love being in a relaxed vibe without the crowds. More about that later.
As soon as we pulled into Tin Can Bay Tourist Park, I felt this is going to be good. The ladies at reception were so happy and pleasant and soon we were parking into our site. The park really has everything we could want.

As you know we love our walks and the next day we decided to take the environmental walk along the foreshore all the way to Snapper point and back. What a great workout and we loved stopping to read the different information plaques describing the different bird life in the area.
Snapper Point is also the place where you can go and feed the Dolphins each morning for a $10 fee. The Tin Can Bay Dolphin Centre opens at 7.00 am and feeding commences at 8.00 am. Yes this is a wonderful experience, even though we have lived in an area where Dolphins would be a daily occurrence for us on our walks, but without the feeding. Also we loved our Dolphin experience when we visited Monkey Mia in WA a couple of years ago. Not wanting to sound blasΓ©, but letβs say it was not something on the top of our list of things to redo. But it is a special experience if you have the opportunity to do it.
TCB is known for its recreational fishing and if you have a boat you will love it. You can also find a few places to do a spot of shore fishing or wade across the shallow sand flats to flick a lure. Just stay alert for the Stingrays. We saw a few that you could describe as βBIGβ.
The village itself has all that you need to keep you going like an IGA, baker, butcher and more. If you didnβt catch that fish you wanted then check out the Lee Fishing Company where you can purchase fresh fish 7 days a week. You can also do a spot of Woolworths shopping in Cooloola Cove which is only a short drive from TCB.
For us this is a lovely spot to spend some time to relax and we love the walking paths situated not far from the caravan park.
