We thoroughly enjoyed our station stay at Pinnarendi Station Stay & Cafe and enjoyed the peacefullness, compared to that of busy Cairns. The property is also known as “The Brick Oven Cafe”. The property is located in Mt Garnett along the Savannah Way between Cairns and for us Croydon as that was our next stop.
Caravan and Camping Sites
The property offers very spacious sites for caravans, camper trailers, tents and big rigs. Prices include amenities and you will be looking at $18 for 2 adults – unpowered and $27 for power and water. .
Saturday night is Pizza night Pinnarendi Station Stay & Cafe. Nadine and Ron (and 3 sons) made us and other travellers feel very welcome as they prepared the most delicious sour dough pizzas we have had on this trip in their wood fired oven. Could be best pizza in Australia .
Fresh Sour Dough Bread
Sunday morning and Ron has fired up the oven again for baking their special sour dough bread while Nadine is preparing some delicious sweet treats in the kitchen. The smells are absolutely awesome. Tonight we are looking forward to home made Lasagna – yum.
Dam Walking Trails
We spent a lovely Sunday exploring Pinnarendi Station Stay & Cafe. We walked the tracks to the three dams and chatted with other travellers while drinking a delicious Mocha Coffee that Nadine made for us. While chatting we also watched the sour dough bread being made and put into the wood fired oven. When finished most of us bought a loaf to take on our travels. Ron filled us in on the properties history and it was interesting to hear how the property once thrived as a peanut farm amongst growing other crops before the harsh weather and natural environment wiped them out. Now they run cattle on the property plus this thriving “Station Stay” for travellers and other visitors who come along the Savannah Way.
The evening ended with sitting around the beautiful log table while devouring homemade lasagna, salad and the most delicious chips.
Thanks Nadine and Ron it has been an absolute delight staying here. We wish you the very best with all your future ideas.
