Next stop Murrumburrah a township in NSW which is part of a twin town with Harden. The town is on the Burley Griffin Way which is the major link from the Riverina to the Hume Highway near Yass.
We decided to stop the night at the Murrumburrah Showgrounds. When we first drove to the gate we thought it wasn’t open for camping as there seemed to be a lot of tradesmen busy with excavators. Also there were no other caravanners or campers in sight.
Luckily the caretaker John, who was very obliging, was working in the grounds and he told us that the showgrounds are getting a major revamp at present. This includes new powered sites and eventually a new amenities block with hot showers. He directed us to the sites available for the night and told us to choose any one we wanted.
That evening we were the only ones in the showgrounds. It’s a little out of the way from town, but if you’re travelling through the area and looking for a reasonable stop this may be the place. Very peaceful night. Who knows by the time you stay all the trenching and upgrades may be completed.
💲 $20 for 2xA with power and water
🚻 Old amenities but reasonably clean and new ones about to be built.
🔌 Power and water for grassed sites – the old sites are a little uneven. But John advised us that the new work included the leveling of sites plus additional sites are being established.
🚮 Rubbish bins
🚽 Dump point
📺📱Excellent TV and Telstra reception.
🐾Pet friendly
With plenty of room to move and the beautiful caroling songs of the magpies to wake you in the morning, what more do you need? Thanks Murrumburrah.
