For our first day out, we did a leisurely stop for a walk to stretch the legs and a bite to eat for lunch at the quaint township of Miriam Vale located on the Bruce Highway 475 kilometres north of Brisbane. The Lions Park at Miriam Vale is listed as a great free overnight stop. The stop is just one street back from the highway in the town’s main street close to the railway line.
An added feature we found was a colony of flying foxes hanging in the trees, very close to the overnight rest area.
Ample parking for all sorts of rigs
Lovely parks with tables to enjoy a picnic lunch
Children’s playground
Dump point
Clean toilets
Across the road from the pub and other stores.
Service station with a giant crab displayed on the roof.
Don’t forget to check out the heritage Fig Tree which is believed to have been planted by railway gangers in the rugged days of the late 1800’s.
After a late lunch in Miriam Vale, we headed further north to our overnight destination Mount Larcom.
Cheers
