WA you have done it again. We found a great overnight stop at Mary Pool along the Savannah Way (Great Northern Highway) in the Kimberley region as we head towards Kununurra.
You will find this gem between Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek beside the Mary River. We arrived around 3 pm and there were 6 vans parked and obviously set up for the night. This number had more than doubled by the morning.
There is ample room for quite a few vans and we found a great spot with a some good shade. The temperature when we arrived was around 35c. After sunset the temperature dropped quite a bit and it made for a very comfortable night.
There are good Hybrid clean flush toilets, two dump points, and at the highway turnoff several skip bins. So keep it clean as there is no excuse for anyone to leave rubbish in the area. This area is obviously well maintained and the grass had just recently been slashed.
We enjoyed a very pleasant evening and dinner of sausages and roasted veggies cooked in the Weber BBQ. After dinner we enjoyed sitting outside and chilling with a wine and sat back and did some star gazing – awesome.
In the morning we were fare welled by the local wildlife.
