We took a drive into Lockhart “The Verandah Town” as we needed some supplies. Had a great time walking around and checking out the local farm sculptures in town.
One very enthused local, Lindy, volunteered to tell us all about it. It’s called the Spirit of the Land Lockhart, festival where farmers use their leftover rolls of rusty wire and other items to create a sculpture. Each year a prize for the best sculpture is awarded and then placed somewhere in this small regional town.
It’s another charming Riverina town and the main street shows why it is called “The Verandah Town” with the many restored facades. Make sure you also check out the many images etched out in the pavers. Pretty cool.
We were very happy to purchase some of the best meat we have seen for the past week Lockhart Gourmet Meats . Some of the beautiful steak we purchased was on the menu that night.
Well that’s enough for now.
