Ledge Point – WA

Just 105km north of Perth is the small coastal town of Ledge Point. This town was gazetted in 1955 to service the growing local fishing and crayfish industries. Originally there were three squatters’ shacks before a road was put in to allow easier access.

We were told that back in the day the town had a thriving fishing industry with many boats on anchor in the sheltered waters. Although these days the industry only supports a few families and the town is a little on the quiet side.

We stayed at the Big 4 Ledge Point Holiday Park, which is the only caravan park in town, and compared to our previous stop in Perth it felt as though we had the whole park to ourselves. However, it’s going to be a long weekend in WA and apparently the park is booked out. Being so close to Perth it’s quite understandable.

The large grassy sites are well maintained. Besides many grassed areas for caravans and campers there are also cabins and small chalets available. It also has very clean amenities, camp kitchen, recreation room and a sparkling blue swimming pool. For the kids there is a jumping pillow and playground. The park didn’t have Wi-Fi or TV reception, but we were told that this is a work in progress. If you really wanted to watch TV you could go and sit in the recreation room.

The town has a small grocery store and fuel outlet and a Café which only operates on weekends. The best thing we found to do in Ledge Point was to sit back and relax and enjoy the beaches.
