Taking 5 days to cross the Nullarbor it was great to stop for a couple of nights and recharge ourselves. We chose the small Wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin approximately 205 kms East of Perth.
👉Our first stop was in the town of Southern Cross for a wee break😁🚻 . There was a great little cafe and as you will see from the pics is very inviting ☕️ . Check out the sign on The Club Hotel – $6 Pints All Day Everyday 🍻. A couple of beautiful older buildings in the town.👍
👉Next we stopped at Merredin the largest regional centre in the eastern Wheatbelt.🌾.The Visitor Information Centre had lots of great information about the town and the staff here were exceptionally helpful 👍. We were also happy to see the local Bakery and IGA to purchase a few things we had run out of. We also checked out Pioneer Park as you will see in the pics 📸. Also we checked out the Silo Art on the way out of town – you can’t miss it. It’s part of the The Public Silo Trail – Western Australia’s Silo Art Trail 🎨
👉The Shire of Kellerberrin is doing an awesome job with a little gem of a Caravan Park. This was our home for a couple of nights. Vicky is the Manager/Caretaker and is an absolute delight to meet. Vicky seems to be forever busy working around the park, but always has a smile and time to chat to everyone.😄 So let’s talk about the park, it has:
🔌Powered drive-thru sites – $22 flat rate per night, all year round – 2 Adults
🏕Grassed camp sites
🚻Clean and modern amenities (toilets and laundry)
🥩Undercover BBQ area with tables and chairs
Camp Kitchen and TV area
📱Telstra/TV reception
⛹️♂️Playground
🚽Dump point
♿️Disabled access
🐶Pet friendly
This was a great stop to just take a breather after crossing the Nullarbor before we hit Perth. Plenty of room to move and Graeme enjoyed his evening chats with the lads around the fire pit.
If you really feel like stretching your legs you can walk into town. You will find the usual shops like baker, butcher, supermarket, post office and of course fuel station.
