Jamestown – SA

It was a pleasant drive from Adelaide to Jamestown to our overnight stop.

As you would have read in a previous post we stopped into the town of Burra along the way. We spent more time looking around than we had anticipated and in hindsight maybe we should have stayed the night in Burra. But we travelled onto Jamestown.

It was late evening when we arrived but we were greeted by the very happy Manager and shown a couple of sites to choose from where we could stay hooked up. Admittedly the caravan park is not the biggest we have been to but has everything you can possibly require and it was great to be away from the crowd of the previous Adelaide weeks.

The next morning we were up early and went for a walk 🚶‍♀️into town. Town is just a very short walk over the Belalie Creek into the main street. Being a Saturday morning we had the place to ourselves.

We were very interested to find the many painted murals on the buildings in and around town. You will find most of them on the heritage listed shops and they create a visual story of the pioneers and early settlers of Jamestown. So make sure you give yourself time to “look 👀around corners”.

On the way back to the caravan we popped into the bakery to buy some fresh bread 🍞🥖 to take on our travels. Unfortunately they don’t have a baker at present, so the bread was not locally baked, but we still bought some.

Below are a list of others places we have visited that may be of interest to you:
