After leaving Coffs Harbour our home town for so many years we headed North along the Pacific Highway towards our first stop for a few weeks Iluka.
Iluka is a small village on the Clarence River and situated straight across the river from resort town of Yamba. As we are not in a hurry, and waiting for the Queensland border and on top of that itβs school holidays, we have decided to stop and chill and enjoy the area for a while.
So the next posts will be sharing with you all the wonderful places we go and visit and enjoy in the area. Actually there is quite a bit to do. So looking forward to exploring.
But first let me have a little gloat. When we arrived at our destination caravan park in Iluka and drove down to our site, Graeme said βhow about you back the van onto our siteβ. For whatever reason I actually did not hesitate. One reason being as I felt totally confident with Graeme directing me. It took a bit of shuffling, but not much and wow I did it, nice and straight and near the slab. Pretty happy with my first every backing the big van into a site. Mind you no one was around us to watch either, which made it even more comfortable. Mmmm maybe this is going to be done more often than not from now on. I will let you know.
Anyway we chose to stay at the Iluka Riverside Holiday Park because it was recommended by other travellers that we have met on previous trips. Thanks guys.
Powered site β at the moment you can stay 7 and pay for 6. For the first week we are here itβs $288 for the week which works out at about $41 a night. These are NSW and QLD school holidays rates.
Amenity Blocks β there are a few blocks around the park. Toilets are well maintained and clean and provide hand sanitizer.
Laundry – $4.00 for a load of washing
Disabled amenities
Camp kitchen
TV and Telstra reception are excellent.
BBQ areas and picnic tables β Some of these are located right on the foreshore of the river. Just wonderful.
Dump points x 2
Pet friendly
Fires are allowed in some areas of the park.
From the park Itβs a very easy flat walk into the village and there are some awesome walks along the foreshore. In the village you will find the local IGA, Butcher, Bakery, Liquor store, Hairdresser, Hardware store and more. The village also has a Pub and Bowling Club and a couple of cafes plus the Golf Club right beside the main road as you drive into town. All yet to be visited.
I will post more about the area as we explore each day. So excited to be back out and about. Graeme is itching to catch some fish and I really hope he does. Otherwise we may have to visit the local Fishermenβs Co-op to get our fresh fish.
