Hastings Point – NSW

We meandered our way from Ballina through Brunswick Heads and onwards towards Hastings Point.  Hastings Point is a very small headland village located along the Tweed Coast Road, beside the Cudgera Creek entrance. The village has two caravan parks a general store and fuel.

The Hastings Point General Store is situated just outside the Tweed Holiday Park where we stayed. The store is open 7 days a week and also offers beachside coffees and take aways.

We found the Tweed Holiday Park a real coastal caravan park without all the bells and whistles. It’s just across the road from the beach and the lovely little estuary entrance where you can go kayaking, fishing, swimming or surfing. There’s also a large playground for those of you travelling with children. From the park and the picnic area you can take a walk out to the headland lookout which gives you a spectacular view over Maggies Beach towards Cabarita Headland to the north and Mooball Beach towards Pottsville.

Hastings Point sits quietly in the middle of the two busier coastal villages of Cabarita and Pottsville. Both are accessible by an interconnecting cycle and walking path. Depending on the weather the beach walk along Maggies Beach to the Cabarita Headland is something we enjoyed doing. Cabarita besides having a Woolworths also seems to be busy with the café vibe.  Norries Headland in Cabarita is well worth a look too.

Pottsville had quite a selection of cafes and nice little restaurants and of course a butcher with the freshest looking meat on display and a wonderful bakery with divine aromas wafting into the street. It also has a couple of other Tweed Head caravan parks and one sits right on the Mooball Creek. They both looked great.

While walking we noticed and read several well-placed signs telling us all about the endangered Curlew birds 🦅 which call this special part of the NSW coast home.

The caravan park even had a ‘couple’ of Curlews who had obviously booked a slab site waiting for their offspring and park management had generously given them an extended stay.

📍Powered sites (the level of a few of the sites are questionable if you have a big van – so check before you park)

📍Clean amenities

📍Dump point

📍Open camp kitchen

📍TV and Telstra although we found the Wi-Fi hit and miss. We found out from a text message that the park was having issues too, but even Telstra was dodgy.

Warning pet lovers

📍Sorry not pet friendly 🤷‍♀️

We enjoyed our stay and this is another we will certainly come back too.

Cheers
