Who would believe that there is so much that needs to be done when you finally decide to hit the road again. It is easier than our first trip. At least we have the Jayco decked out with pots and pans and cutlery and of course linen. However, because the caravan has been in storage since mid July I have decided that the linen needs to be freshened up at home before going back in the van.
Food and Wine
Of course the pantry needs to be restocked. We love cooking and generally take loads of herbs and spices with us as well. Not to mention some cold beer and wine. We love to have a cold beer at the end of a days travel and set up and will often take a walk to the nearby pub to support the local town. We have realised that glass bottles are heavy and take up storage space so we only have canned beer and cask wine for our ‘travelling’ refreshments. When we can we like to buy a nice bottle of wine from the local pub or bottle shop or winery.

Cooking while on the Road
Who doesn’t enjoy eating? But how many of us actually enjoy cooking? Well I must say we both do. Don’t get me wrong we also enjoy eating out at times. We enjoy being able to buy local fresh produce and make our own delicious meals. Any left overs come in very handy when you have had a long day of travel. We love finding the local butcher in town to buy our meat. Many butchers these days cryovac the meat which is great for us caravanners as it lasts longer. Whether it be fresh meat, fish, vegetables, olives, bread or much more, there is always something you can find to purchase to support the local community :).

Toiletries
Then of course there are important toiletries that need replenishing. Ok my toiletries :). When we stop at caravan parks this neat little bag has everything I need to take with me. To make things easier I fill the little bottles with shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and moisturiser. I keep the larger bottles in the van and top up when needed.
Oh and did I mention clothes. Yep clothes are very important and I have found that some of the clothes we took on our last trip are not going to travel with us again. Less is best. Comfort is very important to both of us and I guess we can all relate to being creatures of comfort.
Now it’s time to deal with some important issues. Like where are we going?? We need to make our minds up and quickly as we are on the move in a couple of weeks but still have not decided in which direction to go. As you can see on the map below we have only touched one side of this big country. So stay tuned.
Well that’s enough for now.
