Approximately 130 kms south of Coffs Harbour at the southern edge of the Macleay Valley Coast you will find the easy-going beachside town of Crescent Head. It’s one of the most famous surfing spots in the country and Graeme remembers it from his younger surfing days🏄. Oh, to be young again.🤷
Unfortunately, the weather was not the best as I mentioned in a previous post. However, this did not stop us from walking up to Little Nobby Point Headland to see the impressive cliffs of Big Nobby and the spectacular scenery of what seemed to be a never-ending view of Killick Beach to the north. The headland itself is a deceptive craggy outcrop. This is also a great vantage point for whale watching. Not a whale 🐳in sight for us though.
Killick Beach is a long, pale arc of sand🏖. It’s a shame we didn’t get the chance to walk some of the beach because of the wet n windy weather🌬. But I can understand why it is so popular for holiday makers.
The headland also has a six-hole golf course ⛳️ which looked as if it would be quite a task in itself. We are not golfers but I am sure many a golf ball has ended up in the ocean. On top of this headland are two water tanks with a painted and mosaiced nautical theme.
We stayed at the Crescent Head Caravan Park which is situated at the entrance of Killick Creek. From the park it’s a very short walk into the village where there is a Bakery, Butcher, Supermarket, Post Office, Pharmacy and a couple of cafes. Across the road from the park is the Crescent Head Country Club and tucked into the corner on the foreshore of Killick Beach you will find the Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Club. Both the Country Club and Surf Club have a restaurant and bar facilities.
Oh and the park and surrounding area has a healthy population of rabbits. 🐇🐇🐇

Hopefully we can come back one day in warmer weather and enjoy everything Crescent Head has to offer. We arrived a couple of nights before the start of the NSW School holidays and we were told the Park was fully booked out. Apparently, we were lucky as it was to get three nights here and believe me, we have tried to extend, but to no avail. Seems like it is a very popular place and we can understand why. Graeme kept telling me that when he and his mates surfed here back in the 60’s they would often be to only ones around, how times change.
Cheers
