Beachmere is in between Deception Bay and Sandstone Point in the locality of Moreton Bay a little north of Brisbane. We chose this to be our first port of call as Graeme really doesn’t handle crowds very well these days. This is a perfect place to spend a few days or even a week or so. The Beachmere Caravan Park where we are staying is just across the road from the foreshore of Moreton Bay.
It’s a small township and everything is within walking distance from the Caravan Park. Across the road you will find The Beach Shak Café, Flamingos Ice Creamery, and a hairdresser which seems to be busy all the time. So if in need of a trim or some ‘me’ moments, make sure you book. There’s an awesome park right next door to the caravan park with walking paths, exercise equipment , a skate park and playground.
If you are like us and enjoy shopping locally you are within an easy walk to the nearby Beachmere Butchery and the Beachmere General store. If you’re in need of a little more shopping the Beachmere Village Shopping Centre is only a little further away where you will find a bakery, IGA, discount pharmacy, post office, doctor, dentist etc., oops Graeme just reminded me about the drive through bottle shop too.
Thanks to Sandy and Graham, the Managers, for the awesome job they do in keeping this park so absolutely well maintained. Graham even directs you into your site, so this time I did not park the van as I was chatting with Sandy in the office. By the time I got to our site my Graeme was ready to unhook. Yay.
It’s actually really nice to be in a smaller park, there are 46 sites in total, which also house a few permanents. But what is even nicer is how green the grass and surrounds are. I guess the storms we have had of late help too
Powered sites slab or flat gravel – currently we are paying $198 for 7 day stay which works out at approximately $28 +per night. But check the website as the prices do rise during peak season.
Amenities – Toilets and showers are oh so very clean
Laundry
Camp kitchen
TV/Telephone excellent reception
Dump point
I guess the only down turn is for those of you travelling with pets. It’s not pets friendly sorry.
While enjoying your stay here you can check out the surrounding areas like Sandstone Point and Bribie Island, Caboolture and surrounding areas. At low tide the Moreton Bay beach area opens itself to walks across the exposed sand flats for you to explore the shallow tidal pools, just keep an eye open for the returning tide. Some of that in our next post.
This is a nice place to chill for a few days. Make sure you take some time to walk around the area. You will be surprised what you find hidden within and around the local streets.
