For anyone planning to travel through Victoria do yourself a favour and take time to explore the Silo Art Trail.
The trail leads you past six silos that display truly breathtaking artwork. These great pieces of artwork are painted onto the sides of grain silos. I am sure you won’t be disappointed. It’s also a great way to support the towns in the area.
The whole trail is approximately 200 kms and you can probably do it in a day. We gave ourselves plenty of time to travel along the trail and spent a great overnighter at Brim Lakeside Park on the Yarriambiack Creek. This great overnight stop set us back a donation of $10. There are some powered sites if that’s what you require, but you need to be in early. For us we didn’t need a powered site so were happy camp in a much less crowded space beside the Lake. This place was awesome, the amenities clean and well cared for and the area where we stayed in was very spacious. Thank you to the Brim Lions Club for doing such a great job.
The list below is how we did our tour, but of course you can change it to suit yourself for your direction of travel.

In South Australia in the town of Kimba we also came across another awesome piece of silo art on the Vitera grain silos. It was completed in September, 2017. Kimba is a wonderful town and is also the ‘Halfway Across Australia’ mark. There are actually quite a few places to visit like Whites Knob. The town is RV friendly and has provided a couple of great camping areas.
The Recreation Reserve is a great long or short term camping area. For a donation you can stay for a maximum of 7 days. There are toilets, coin operated showers, great barbecues and a RV dump point. What a great place and so encouraging for caravanners and campers to stay a night or more. There is also another nice site for short term parking near ‘The Big Galah’.
Well done Kimba. It’s so nice to see such wonderful facilities for travellers to stop overnight. So if you do stop by don’t forget to leave a donation.
PS: Since we visited the above Silo Art Trail there have been many more added to the lists. You can check out more at Australian Silo Art.
Well that’s enough for now.
